Era um paradoxo - musicalmente, havia até pessoas dentro do antigo regime que os admiravam, excepto em certas líricas. Não se pode dizer que a rádio e a televisão os ignoraram (tenho lembrança disso porque sou um jovem contemporâneo, tinha 4 quando o RCP os passou pela 1ª vez). Graças a pai rocker e mãe yé-yé, fui sempre muito atento à rádio e aos discos, desde pequeno, e por isso a lembrança da voz no RCP a anunciar a estreia de um grupo Português (suponho que era Cândido Mota, mas posso estar enganado), tem sido uma das memórias da década de 60 que vivi em Portugal, ainda sob a égide do Estado Novo. Não tenho dúvidas de que de certa maneira, e não querendo comparar o valor de qualquer dos talentos, o Quarteto estava à altiura de grupos como os Moody Blues ou os Aphrodite's Child. the movie isnt against fado though, its important to know that the character Vasco is batshit drunk in this scene, and the straight up next scene is him singing his Students Fado

I have one problem with this film - it doesn't in any way capture the real light and colour of Lisbon. Perhaps it's the proximity to the river, but Lisbon looks a bit like you've tuned both the light and contrast settings of your eyes 'up'. Everything is sharp, lit, colourful. The sun makes it all so clear and warm - and yet so fresh. The façades of buildings are usually pink or yellow w/ white windows and dark green doors. And the sidewalk designs are pure art, like in the rest of the country.

You're right. He was a slacker, in earlier days fadistas (fado singers) were viewed as libertines and petty criminals. And fado became linked to easy living. This is one of my favorite movies. Being that I studied in Lisbon for more years than i care to admit :D

~Don´t think that this film its against fado. This is a story about a young academy student that tried for so many years to complete is degree, but due to the life in Lisbon he never acomplish anything ansd so he blaims on everything beside him self, is a very beutifull film
